What is a revolution for? A revolution illuminates other possibilities of life. This short film starts from here, which deals with the last of the great European revolutions, that of April 25, 1974 in Portugal, which ends on November 25, 1975. This visual essay, constructed with images from film cooperatives and television materials, is a reflection on the political force of cinema and on the role of archives and representation in general in our current struggles. The revolution (is) probable also tells us about the fragile document status of images as “evidence”, and about the real possibility of learning from history from the present.

My grandfather José Caldas was a socialist trade unionist and councilman. He was shot in Vigo on May 12, 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. My voice-over, family pictures and documentary photographs by Pacheco Photo Studio are intertwined in this story of lose and violence. Past and present, family narrative and collective history, transgenerational memory and social story go through a film that demands justice and in which the feminist gaze is persistent.

O Lavadoiro project proposes an active and multidisciplinary reflection, from built and ephemeral architecture, on the role of laundry rooms in women’s lives, as places of domestic work and also of relationships, taking as a starting point the surroundings and environment of the Lavadoiro de Artes (Corrubedo, A Coruña), built in the 40s and recently recovered by the architect Carlos Seoane, as an enhancement of a unique public space until now in disuse.
