WORKSHOP ‘De la investigación a la creación biográfica’ [From investigation to biographic creation]
DATES: friday 27th (16h – 20h) and saturday 28th of march (10:30 – 14:30h / 16h – 20h) LIMITED PLACES: 15 people
DURATION: 12 hours
PLACE: Museo do Pobo Galego
Throughout its history as a discipline, anthropology has been dedicated to the complex task of understanding the Other One, facing the contradictory condition of the influence exercised by the very presence of those who investigate. In the same way, in documentary filmmaking (and even in other artistic disciplines interested in the Other/Oneself relationship), the approach and development of relationships and understandings of the characters they want to represent usually places the creator in a constant debate on the forms and content that guide these processes. How do you start? The first approach… Where do we stand? What questions to ask, what questions not to ask, what position to take, how much to register, how to register it?
This workshop seeks to create a space for the discussion of these and so many issues that surround the beginning and development of an approach. Without claiming to give unique answers, it focuses on providing a variety of methods, resources, principles, discussions, and questions of ethnographic but also cinematographic and creative basis, for the approach to that complicated -although also exciting- work of understanding the Other One. In an attempt to create one of the many possible representations of who left in the past, we are in the present, or even ww wish to be. Between construction of life stories, biographies, portraits or simple doodles. Where, in addition, the author unintentionally ends up highlighting the presence of his own elusive Self within the framework of all exploration.
WORKSHOP DIRECTED TO…
All people interested in these topics, whether for personal interest, as part of a research work in the social sciences, humanities or other disciplines, and in particular artists and filmmakers who want to enrich their creative and exploratory processes.
